About Me
I’ve been in academia and now am rooted in the public history field. I oversee a variety of public history, archival, and digital projects at the Indiana Historical Bureau (such as our state historical marker program, a Hoosier history blog and podcast, a historic newspaper digitization program, projects relating to rare books and manuscripts, and an oral history project with former state legislators). I’m a trained oral historian with close to 20 years experience in the field. I’ve always been drawn to people’s stories.
In addition, I’ve published a book (hey, you should check it out!), several articles, many books reviews, and multiple blogs.
I am an athlete at heart. Competition runs in my blood. Until graduate school, basketball was my sport of choice but then I began studying roller derby for my dissertation. I thought I should just give it a try so I understood what I was studying. And then it got to me. I joined Pioneer Valley Roller Derby in Western Massachusetts and became the ever-classy Coors Lightning.
Indiana is home, but Massachusetts and Nebraska will always have a spot in my heart.
